San Gimigniano, Tuscany Italy
San Gimignano is a beautiful medieval town in the Siena Province, Tuscany Italy. It is also called the town of the Hundred Towers, due to the many towers that can be seen from far away. The town sits on top of a hill surrounded by beautiful vines.
The Town is perfectly preserved in its Medieval architecture, surrounded by city walls. The town was a flourishing commerce centre till the death plague of 1348 when half the population died. Since than was frozen in time allowing to be perfectly preserved.
The town is famous for the Vernaccia di San Gimignano a refreshing white wine.
