10 Things You MUST Take on your Cruise!
Having cruised a lot we found a few little gadgets that are absolutely indispensable for us every time we board a ship.
Let me share them with you:
Dollar Store Tea Lights
The cabin bathroom can be really really dark at night and finding the light switch might not be easy. We discovered that LED tea lights from the dollar store are perfect for that. They cost you about 2 dollars and the battery lasts at least 2 weeks. We turn them in the bath at night before bed and the problem is solved. Trust me, it’s a must-have!
USB/Power Plug Converter with 4 USB ports
When I cruise I always bring my phone, my tablet, my camera, my GoPro and my laptop…. those are a LOT of devices to charge at night. I discovered this little tool that is perfect for the job. Not only converts every plug from every country of the world but it also has 4 USB ports so I can charge 5 devices at the same time! Not bad. This little tool is small, light and it is incredibly handy in hotels and cruises all over the world.
Boca Clips!
I love to spend a lot of time by the pool when I cruise but sometimes the wind is strong and the beach towel tends to fly away. One time I saw someone on a ship using these funny clips to hold the towel that looked like pink flamingos! I was “I gotta have those!” Well, a short search online and I was able to find all sorts of clips that are perfect for the job and stylish in a cheesy sort of way! Now I will not board a ship without those (as you can see in the photo above, of me napping! ??)
Magnetic Clips
Cruiseship cabins are not huge, we all know that. keeping them tidy is important. Also maybe you did not know this but the cabin’s walls are made out of metal. For this reason, you can use magnetic clips to hang many items on the walls.
Those clips are really inexpensive a pack of 12 costs less than $15.00 and they will save you a lot of room in your cabin. We won’t cruise without them anymore!
Air Freshener
Cabins can get a little stuffy, especially inside and windows cabin. We discovered that a small air freshener can make the room much more inviting. We love a lemon-scented one but that is totally up to you.
Velcro closet organizers
It is not a secret that closet space in a cruise cabin is very limited. For that reason keeping the closet organized is imperative. We discovered that the velcro foldable shoe organizer does an amazing job in the cabin closet! Once it is folded it takes no space in your bag.
Other things we always have with us!
I have to admit I have a carry on at home with all the above gadgets always in it ready to go at any time. In the carry on, I keep a few other things that, in my opinion, are a must-have!
- A corkscrew: most cruise lines allow you to bring one bottle of wine per person per voyage. The challenge is to have a corkscrew delivered to our cabin. For this reason, we always pack a decent one with us.
- Several lanyards: I like to keep my cruise card on my neck at all time, that way I don’t lose it. In my carry on I have several lanyards that I got for free by entering trivia on board that I use over and over again.
- A foldable backpack: these are really cheap and incredibly handy! We use them to go to the beach or the pool. We bring them in port with us etc. Once folded they take no room at all.
- Plastic rain ponchos: it happened to us, several times, to get ready for an excursion and it started raining. (Especially during our South East Asian Cruise) I have to admit those inexpensive ponchos saved the day and most importantly my camera!
Did I forget to mention anything? What are your favorite must-have gadgets for a cruise?
